Already completed missions can be accessed from an "instant action" list. Completing a mission saves the campaign progress and usually unlocks a new one. While the campaign is linear, most of the time three missions are available at the same time, allowing the player to complete them in any order. Like in earlier Delta Force games, the campaign in Black Hawk Down is divided into distinct missions. The player is usually accompanied by a squad of three AI-controlled soldiers, whom the player is able to give simple commands such as the order to hold fire, hold position or throw a grenade. Many of the series' trademark features, such as bullet ballistics and later weapon sway, were abandoned in favour of simpler action-focused gameplay. While all earlier Delta Force games focus on long distance outdoor combat and have open ended mission design, Black Hawk Down focuses on close quarters combat in urban environments with heavily scripted missions more similar to the then-recent Medal of Honor: Allied Assault. The gameplay in Delta Force: Black Hawk Down differs heavily from earlier installments in the series. The final mission features an alternate history, in which the player and a team of operators carry out the assassination of Mohamed Farrah Aidid. During the latter section of the game, the player will still play as that soldier, but is now sent to the 3rd Ranger Battalion and the 1st Special Forces Operational Detachment-Delta, commonly known as Delta Force.

They are assigned to 1st Special Forces Operational Detachment-Delta, taking part in Operation Gothic Serpent, a military operation conducted during the Battle of Mogadishu on October 3, 1993. Following the third mission, the player assumes the role of the same soldier. They take part in the Unified Task Force peacekeeping operation during the Somali Civil War. The Strike Group will operate and exercise with other Countries Navies and Air Forces during the 7-month deployment. The player begins the game as a soldier with Task Force Ranger, commanding three team members: Huck, Mother, and Preacher. CSG21 will see the ship along with the Strike Group work with over 40 countries from around the world. HMS Queen Elizabeth is the deployed flagship for Carrier Strike Group 21(CSG21). The jets then operated in the skies above the two carriers developing their interoperability and mutual understanding of procedures.

“On completion of the refuelling, HMS QUEEN ELIZABETH launched an Italian Navy F-35, Italian Air Force F-35, USMC F-35 and finally an F-35B from the UK 617 squadron. The Royal Navy say that this is the third nation that has landed jets on the carrier. As she heads west back to the UK, the ship has continued her busy programme of working with allied nations and partners, say the Royal Navy. HMS Queen Elizabeth is currently in the Mediterranean following months in the Indo-Pacific region as part of her global deployment. HMS Queen Elizabeth recently made history for the first time that three nations have flown jets from the same aircraft carrier with British, American and Italian F-35B jets taking off from the ship.į-35B Lightning jets from the Italian carrier Cavour have landed, refuelled, and relaunched from HMS Queen Elizabeth.įirst time in history three nations jets launch from one ship “It is not a secret the Russians have been very interested in the carrier group both on the way out from the United Kingdom – as she’s sailed and her group towards the Pacific – and now she is back in the Mediterranean,” Mr Wallace said. Speaking to Deborah Haynes of Sky News, Defence Secretary Ben Wallace said that Russia had shown a renewed interest in HMS Queen Elizabeth and its F-35 jets as they headed home through the Mediterranean. Now that the vessels have returned to the region after sailing to the Pacific and back it appears Russian interest has been renewed. In fact, it was reported that F-35 jets from HMS Queen Elizabeth intercepted Russian jets in the eastern Mediterranean more than 30 times as part of the Carrier Strike Group. Earlier in the deployment Russian jets were being intercepted almost every day and now that the Strike Group is back in the Mediterranean Sea it’s happening again.
